Epistemological event horizon

There is no shame and only strength
in admitting that
many things that were hard for me to imagine
actually happened
many things I was certain of
turned out to be wrong
many things I thought I understood
I did not understand.

There is no reason to think that
my current worldview
is not subject to more errors of judgement.

Let confusion and fear of not knowing
not lead me astray.

For if I admit that I do not know,
I am empowered to find out.

Let the confidence be as high
as the quality of the evidence.
And let the assessment of the evidence
be guided by the purest form of honesty
and the most rigorous form of rationality.

For if I have proven myself wrong,
my horizon expands all the more.
